Pea4Ever priming: a major pea project is launched!

On 5-6 December 2024, the Pea4Ever project kick-off meeting was held. This project, financed by GIE PeaBoost, is aimed at accelerating short-term genetic gains, exploiting genetic diversity, resistance to pests and diseases, climate resilience, improving the quality of winter peas, and mobilising stakeholders.

This meeting was an opportunity to take stock of the previous work carried out by the various partners and to present the actions that will be carried out during the project.

GEVES is involved in 2 workpackages. WP3 concerns disease resistance, with epidemiological work and the development of a protocol for evaluating pea resistance to bacterial blight, with the aim of proposing a new registration characteristic. WP4 is concerned with evaluating and improving pea resistance to water stress, with tomography analyses (3D X-rays) being carried out in order to gain a better understanding of the mechanisms involved in pea seed fragility and to develop an evaluation method.
