New resources for the National Collection

For fruit species, 6 apple accessions were donated by the Fruit Pole of Bretagne with a wealth of characterisation, historical and usage data, as well as 6 plum and cherry accessions donated by the Pomological Society of Berry in collaboration with the Genetic Resources Union of the Centre.

For ornamental plants, 33 accessions of different species of primrose were added to the National Collection at the suggestion of GAEC Barnhaven.

Lastly, two accessions of forage and turfgrass species have been added. The first by the public-private cooperation network includes 175 accessions and the second by the CRB Prairies INRAE concerns 146 accessions, natural populations collected in France. These contributions are accompanied by a wealth of characterisation and evaluation data, obtained in particular for the resources contributed by the cooperation network as part of the European GrassLandscape project.

All the information relating to these resources will be available in the European EURISCO database when the French national inventory is updated in the near future. For species listed in Annex 1 of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture, these new accessions will shortly be added to the multilateral system of the International Treaty (TIRPAA) by the French government.

The full list of new accessions was published in the Official Journal on 31 December 2024. You can find details of all the resources in the official directory of the National Collection on the GEVES website; this data is available for download.
