GEVES joins PHENOME-EMPHASIS, the French Plant Phenomics Infrastructure

On 29 January 2024, the General Assembly of PHENOME-EMPHASIS was held, at which GEVES presented its activities, the links already established and its motivation to join the PHENOME-EMPHASIS infrastructure.

Following a favourable vote, GEVES has joined a National Research Infrastructure which is developing equipment (sensors, robots, image and data acquisition and processing for thousands of plants) and methods to analyse the genetic variability of plant responses to climate change (drought, CO2, high, high temperatures, emerging diseases), in response to a number of challenges:

  • Facilitating the agro-ecological transition, in particular by analysing interactions between plants and other organisms (micro-organisms, insects, other plants).
  • Deploying an information system for free access to data
  • To place the infrastructure’s activities in a European context.

About PHENOME-EMPHASIS:

The PHENOME-EMPHASIS infrastructure is distributed over 9 French sites in greenhouses, in highly equipped fields and in field networks with simpler equipment. PHENOME-EMPHASIS is included in the national strategy of the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, on the French roadmap for Biology and Health infrastructures (INBS).
