EU DUS experts for ornamental plants meet with CPVO

On 8-9 October 2020, the CPVO organised the annual meeting of ornamental plant experts from 8 DUS examination offices with breeder representatives (CIOPORA and Plantum). Various topics were discussed such as the adoption of national protocols, the potential inclusion of pathogen resistance characteristics in the CPVO protocols for ornamentals or the need for an additional propagation step for certain species. The Alstroemeria and Phalaenopsis protocols were discussed. CIOPORA also presented the results of the project “minimum distance between selected pelargonium varieties”. The final report is available on the CPVO website: CIOPORA Report Minimum Distance
