DUS fruit species experts gather for Apple Day

With the support of CPOV, GEVES organized on the 9th of November an Apple Day.

This technical day was intended for European experts in DUS of fruit species, in particular apple. The group was hosted at the INRAE site of La Rétuzière to whom GEVES subcontracts the implementation of DUS trials for seeded species.

About fifteen of our counterparts were able to discuss of the best way to apply the new CPOV guide for apple by testing it directly on fruits for certain characteristics. These very rich discussions will permit us to work in a harmonized way in Europe, while making our observation methods more reliable.

Many optimization tracks will be explored in the coming years, in order to propose the most robust DUS results possible.
