17th Plant-Bacteria interactions Meeting

Organised every two years in the Maurienne valley, this year’s Plant-Bacteria Meetings brought together 160 participants, mainly from France, but also from Belgium, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Israel, Italy, Mexico and the USA. Two GEVES members attended the congress (Mylène Ruh and Justine Foucher).

GEVES presented two posters:

  • One on the development and validation of a qPCR identification method for various pathogenic Pseudomonas syringae isolated from Cucurbitaceae seeds.
  • And a second on a collaborative project between GEVES and French seed companies called DesiClaviX. The main objective of this project is to adapt the ISHI method for detecting Clavibacter michiganensis in not treated tomato seeds by SE-qPCR to seeds disinfected with sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl). The protocol developed should also be functional for the detection of different Xanthomonas species on disinfected and non-disinfected tomato and pepper seeds.

These meetings enable GEVES to share its research, exchange ideas with the scientific community, follow progress on plant-bacteria interactions and develop useful collaborations for the development of methods for detecting pathogens or evaluating varietal resistance.
