ESN Symposium: GEVES innovates to detect Aphelenchoides besseyi on rice seeds

The 35th Symposium of the European Society of Nematology (ESN) was at Cordoba, Spain, from 15 to 19 April. This congress was attended by specialists and researchers from all over the world, with the aim of sharing knowledge and the most recent advances in the field of nematology, while promoting international collaboration.

At the congress, GEVES presented the latest advances concerning the detection method for Aphelenchoides besseyi on rice seeds. This method, based on the ISTA method, can be used to easily extract and accurately identify this nematode using real-time PCR. Aphelenchoides besseyi is a parasite that can cause significant losses by reducing crop quality and yield. By providing an effective detection method, GEVES aims to improve the detection of this parasite and prevent its spread.

The positive feedback and constructive discussions that followed the presentation demonstrated the relevance of this work in the field of plant pathology. The discussions were an opportunity to collect constructive feedback and to explore future collaborations with the aim of improving this method.
